Abstract

This study focuses on the role of the Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDES) in boosting the village economy based on Sharia principles, the obstacles faced by the BUMDES in this endeavor, and the solutions implemented to overcome these challenges. The study employs a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. An inductive method is used for data analysis. While the economic development of the Pandan Indah village community—in terms of income, expenditure, and general welfare—is a key consideration, the reality is that the benefits of the BUMDES, established in late 2017, have not yet been fully realized by the community as a whole. Nevertheless, the Pandan Indah BUMDES has essentially endeavored to develop the local economy based on Sharia principles—encompassing both material and non-material aspects—grounded in the Islamic concept that well-being is achieved when both primary needs (al-dhururiyyah) and secondary needs (al-hajiyyah) are met.
